FTP Upload
You have now made your site and you want to publish it to the internet, the first thing you will need is space on the net, that's simple enough to get, from people such like freeuk.com or any of the main ISP usually have free web space provided.
With FTP all it means is File Transfer Protocol, which means its your portal to putting your information onto the super highway, there are several ways of using FTP.
Way 1
The simplest has to be accessing the ftp site directly, but this can be more unsecured, but it is a lot quicker and any simple person can upload pages in seconds.
First you have to find out your ftp address, commonly it will be like : ftp://thehack:******@home.freeuk.net/
what it means:
thehack = my username that i signed up for at freeuk.com
****** = is the password at freeuk, that i choose when I signed up
@home.freeuk.net = Is the standard code for freeuk ftp file uploads
You can find this out from your ISP, once you have found the address you can simple put it into the address bar in explorer and it'll open your web space ( as long as you have password and username correct tho), all that remains is to copy and paste your pages on the window that has opened on the web. Simple ay??
Way 2
This is a more complicated way, but more stabile, it involves another program to upload your info to the web, there are so many programs to aid you in this, that I cant do a tutorial on it yet but I will soon, I would suggest a copy of WS_FTP which you can download a free trial version from Ipswitch Home Page
An Online tutorial for this program is available at pageresource.com or go directly to tutorial at http://www.pageresource.com/putweb/ftptut1.htm
